prelude

“the universe is exactly the size that your soul can encompass. some people live in extremely small worlds, and some live in a world of infinite possibility.”

“life goes on.” those were the words that fixed me into a sense of normalcy after my as grades. i think it’s a simple, cliche saying, but it was oddly comforting.

when obstacles occur, there’s a tendency to be overwhelmed and begin a cycle of overthinking; i think the quote diminishes the self-centralisation an average person possesses. you and i are not as significant as we believe to be, whatever good or bad that may occur.

but i also think there’s a responsibility on the individual to be focused on oneself. constant exposure to social media is an easy method to remove yourself from the stressful and ever-changing outside world, and these means of self gratification will deteriorate the dopamine process in a person. aristotle stated (paraphrasing here) “humans are theological creatures. it is a basic necessity to be working towards something each day.”

this is a needlessly long introduction for an introduction. essentially, i need to focus more on my personal wellbeing and academics, and this is my way of maintaining accountability.

with love, lilly
